Prof. Erin Thompson (John Jay) & Peter Herdrich, vice-president of the Antiquities Coalition will talk about a largely ignored but important crime: theft and smuggling of antiquities and other parts of global cultural heritage. The danger is growing even bigger--especially in Iraq and Syria with the rise of ISIS and fundamentalist groups. Prof. Thompson has a forthcoming book on the subject.
