SESSION I: PATT - A Faculty Development Program for Online & Hybrid Teaching
Presenter: C. Gabrielle Salfati
This workshop will outline all the training opportunities currently available to John Jay faculty who are interested in using technology in the classroom, or moving their in-class courses to a hybrid/online format, including grant opportunities to help build online courses
The workshop also introduces participants to the new JJO500 self-paced tool to build online courses, which includes a ready-to-go course shell, that also includes access to all technology and pedagogy how-to tools, and aims to enable faculty to build online courses quickly and effortlessly, using best practices, and providing ideas for using technology to leverage pedagogy.
At the end of the workshop, faculty will be provided an overview of the PATT program for Spring 2015 which includes a range of additional training workshops on teaching and technology tools, tricks of the trade and best practices that faculty can use to increase their portfolio of tools to make teaching more fun and decrease faculty time on task, whilst increasing student centered active learning, and overall increase student engagement.
