Presenters: Elizabeth Nielson and Patrick O’Hara

TurnItIn is an exceptionally valuable resource for detecting plagiarism. It can also be used to help teach students what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. Unbeknownst to many faculty, TurnItIn also has powerful assignment management capabilities. From its ability to allow students to peer review work, to computer assisted grading and rubric application, boasts a catalogue of highly technical features that can help you help your students succeed.
Participants will learn how to create a TurnItIn account, set up a course shell, instruct students on how to enroll, set up assignments, access and review plagiarism reports, and provide writing feedback through TurnItIn. Assignment and report settings will be reviewed. Faculty members who attend this session will leave with a better understanding of the advanced features of including peer review, grademark, and grammar correction features.
Participants are invited to bring a laptop and create their course and assignments during the workshop. Handouts will include instructions and screenshots for later review.
