Probation Revocation in the Era of Mass Incarceration

This event is co-sponsored by John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the University of Minnesota’s Robina Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice.

Join a discussion among selected scholars and practitioners, including:

  • Ana Bermudez, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Probation
  • Michael P. Jacobson, Executive Director of the CUNY Institute of State & Local Governance
  • The Honorable Juanita Bing Newton, Dean of the New York State Judicial Institute
  • Benjamin Tucker, First Deputy Commissioner of the New York City Police Department

The conversation aims at a rethinking of probation practices, with a particular focus on identifying the components of
best practice in the management of probation violations and on existing practice and possibilities for reform in a number of sites across the nation.
