Timothy Harper, journalist and editorial/publishing consultant, and Carrie Brown, director of the social journalism program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, are both speakers at this event and will discuss the promotion of ideas as it relates to journalism.
While direct engagement social media platforms and academic specific networking applications have proliferated in recent years, the majority of scholarly research continues to reach the public – and even policy-makers – in a form mediated and interpreted by professional journalists. How can researchers and scholars engage more productively with media on a variety of platforms – and how do they make their work more accessible and useful to interested journalists? Led by CUNY Journalism Professors Carrie Brown and Timothy Harper,this workshop will cover such issues as writing for clarity (and preventing nuanced results taking full advantage of the services offered by our own Marketing and Development Department.
