Book Talk: Cross-National Public Opinion about Homosexuality
with discussants Brian Powell & Ryan Thoreson
Amy Adamczyk is Professor of Sociology at John Jay and the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research focuses on how different contexts and personal religious beliefs shape people’s attitudes and behaviors. Her work has been
published in the American Sociological Review and supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Amy will be joined by discussants Dr. Brian Powell (James H.Rudy Professor of Sociology at Indiana University)
and Dr. Ryan Thoreson (Researcher in the LGBT Rights Program at Human Rights Watch).
Cross-National Public Opinion about Homosexuality: Examining Attitudes across the Globe examines variations in worldwide public opinion about homosexuality. The book shows cross-national differences can be explained by
the strength of democratic institutions, economic development, and religious context.
