Event Description:
DACA and Study Abroad
Wednesday, February 3rd
1:40pm - 2:40pm
New Building, Room 1.76
At this session come meet Joseph Lavetsky, a Staff Attorney from CUNY Central in the Citizenship Now! program. Mr. Lavetsky will be here to answer questions about DACA & Study Abroad. The Department of Homeland Security has stated that it will accept applications for Advance Parole for "education, humanitarian and work purposes" for individuals who have been granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Study-abroad opportunities fall under the USCIS description, allowing some DACA students to apply for permission to exit and then re-enter the United States with the proper documentation. There are a number of factors that an individual should consider with legal counsel before moving forward with any study abroad program. DACA students interested in studying abroad are encouraged to attend.
