Learning from Dispute Resolution Globally
This past year the International Mediation Institute launched the Global Pound Conference Series. Under this program, events will be held in at least 38 cities in 26 countries to learn and understand how dispute management and resolution is practiced. The events will bring together stakeholders - users, providers, academics, and members of the judiciary. Deborah will describe the goals and objectives of the series and what it hopes to accomplish. In addition, Deborah will provide an update on the efforts at UNCITRAL [United Nations Commission on International Trade Law] to pass a Convention on the Enforcement of Mediation Settlements for commercial cross border disputes. The latest meeting of Working Group II was held in New York in February.
Deborah Masucci is currently Chair and Board Member of the International Mediation Institute, Vice Chair of the NYSBA Dispute Resolution Section, and former Chair of the ABA Section for Dispute Resolution. She serves as an arbitrator and mediator. During her over 30 year career she has championed best practices in dispute management and resolution in the business/commercial, employment, insurance and securities sectors. In June 2011, Deborah was honored by ACR-GNY with its ADR Achievement Award. Deborah is an adjunct professor who teaches a number of dispute resolution courses. She is a published author in the field who regularly speaks on the topic of dispute resolution. She can be reached at dm@debmasucciadr.com. |
