Event Description:

WATCH 60 Minutes on CBS Report on German Prisons

On Sunday, April 3, 60 Minutes will broadcast a comparison of American and German prison systems that features American and German political, educational and correctional leaders, who were part of a bipartisan delegation to Germany led last summer by John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Vera Institute of Justice as part of the International Sentencing and Corrections Exchange. The 60 Minutes report will air at 7:00 p.m. ET on the CBS Television Network.

The delegation -- which included corrections officials, philanthropists, people who have been incarcerated, district attorneys, and other bipartisan thought leaders -- toured prisons and met European experts in order to build a cross-cultural learning community. Throughout the week, participants shared insights on social media using #RethinkingPrisonsIntl, reporter Maurice Chammah's blogged for The Marshall Project and VICE News and the Vera Institute highlighted the delegation's experience on their blog post. After the tour, Presidents Travis and Turner authored a New York Times op-ed piece entitled "What We Learned From German Prisons.
