Wednesday, December 9, 2015
1:30PM - 2:45PM
New Building, Rm. 1.89

Join Kimora (Professor of Corrections and Ethics, John Jay College), Jonathan Jacobs ( Professor and Chair of Dept. of Philosophy, John Jay College) and Karsten J. Struhl (Professor of  Politics and Cross-cultural Philosophy, John Jay College) as they discuss their book, "When Young People Break the Law".

When Young People Break the Law (published January 2015) is an anthology of scholarly articles and essays that debate the pros and cons of juvenile punishment and of utilizing punishment for juveniles as presently administered by the criminal justice system. The six thematic sections address the following questions: What is punishment? Can punishment be justified? Should juveniles receive a different kind of punishment than adults? Should juveniles ever receive a life sentence without parole? Should the juvenile justice system be reformed? Are there reasonable alternatives to punishment?
