Event Description:

Protecting First Responders: Lessons Learned?

Date: Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Time: 1:30—3:00 pm, Room 610H

Speaker: Donell Harvin; Asst. Professor, Dept. of Security, Fire, and Emergency Management

This engaging discussion focuses on the health and safety aspects of responding to large-scale incidents within the first few operational periods. First responders are expected to rush to these incidents to protect the public; while often sacrificing their own health and well-being. This presentation will be led by Donell Harvin, a twenty year veteran first responder, who will draw from his experiences ranging from 9/11 to the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings.
