Pipeline emergencies have garnered increased attention following several high-profile events leading to casualties and environmental damage. This project, sponsored by the Transportation Research Board of the National Academy of Sciences, developed a guidebook to assist agencies in planning for communicating during a pipeline emergency. This presentation, by the research projects lead members, will discuss findings of the report, and the innovative methodology used to identify information needs of the diverse responders to these complex events. Best practices and common problems will be presented and reviewed.
