Manuel S. Almeida Rodríguez is currently Associate Professor and Researcher in
the School of the Social and Human Sciences at the Universidad del Este
(Carolina, PR). He is also the Editor in Chief of the multidisciplinary journal of
the Universidad del Este, ÁMBITO DE ENCUENTROS. He has taught political
theory and comparative politics at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras.
He was Vice President for Student Affairs of the University of Puerto Rico System
(June 2010-January 2011). He has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the
University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Almeida’s first book was on the political
thought of Antonio Gramsci (a second, revised, edition came out in 2014).
He recently published his second book entitled, ESE IDIOTA LLAMADO
SOCRATES: TEORIA POLITICA, CRITICA, DEMOCRACIA (La Secta de los
Perros and Ediciones UNE).
