Workshop: Executives in Residence - Careers in Forensic Psychology

 Date: Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Description:

Are you interested in pursuing a career in Mental Health Counseling? Don't miss out on the opportunity to hear from a professional what skills are needed to excel in the field.

Executives in Residence presents Joe Chacon, who has specialized in empowering marginalized communities through leading and developing social justice and equality initiatives and services. With 20+ years of justice and social research experience, Joe has served in various roles that help those in need, including direct services, justice advocacy, program development, and directing.

His research has included Federally and locally-funded justice initiatives analyzing disparities in legal responses to substance use and addiction, cultural differences, incompetency to stand trial evaluations, and criminal investigations. In New York State's court and penal systems, Joe's work had included pre and post-trial services in felony matters, advocacy for alternatives to prison, and using technology (before Zoom was a thing) to connect families with loved ones incarcerated throughout the state.

These skills and experiences have informed Joe's work in social services, including the design and implementation of case management, clinical, housing, and employment services. In addition, Joe has overseen the development of the evidence-based workshop and therapeutic group curricula virtually implemented life or through pre-recorded coursework designed to support self-sufficiency and behavioral health.

Joe Chacon is eager to meet and network with our students. So do take advantage of this opportunity to learn techniques needed to succeed in the field, network with the people within, and see how you can get a head start.
