We are pleased to share that John Jay College was invited to be a community partner of St. Ann’s Warehouse, affording us the opportunity to promote the free streaming of an all-female Shakespeare Trilogy and online discussion forums this month to our community. This unique performing arts project gave talented women actors significant roles usually reserved for men.
The films, Julius Caesar, Henry IV and The Tempest, directed by widely-acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd, feature actors as inmates in a women’s prison assuming the characters in Shakespeare’s plays and confronting the consequences of being confined while experiencing social and criminal justice inequities.
