Jelani Cobb will be presented with the 2016 Justice Trailblazer Award on February 25 at a special dinner at John Jay College, following the announcement of the winners of the 11th Annual John Jay/Harry Frank Guggenheim prizes for Excellence in Criminal Justice Reporting.

Dr. Cobb, Director of the Africana Studies Institute at the University of Connecticut, contributor to The New Yorker and prize-winning author, will be honored for his body of work which spans books, journalism and scholarship that explores the inequitable impact of the justice system on African Americans. Bob Herbert, host of the CUNY-TV program, “Bob Herbert’s Op Ed”, and former New York Times columnist, will serve as emcee for the dinner.
