How to Reduce Urban Violence in America, and Why We Don't
In the United States, 39 people are murdered every day, three quarters of them by gunfire. Americans are collectively ten times more likely to be killed by firearms than those living in other developed nations. But Americans, as individuals, do not bear this risk equally: the nation’s #1 victims of fatal gun violence are young men of color. This presentation will introduce audience members to ideas, policies, and programs that can save us from deadly street violence, and asks why such efforts have not, to date, been implemented at scale.
