Michelle Holder is Assistant Professor of Economics at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Prior to joining John Jay, she worked professionally as an economist in the non-profit and government sectors, monitoring and writing about trends in the low-wage labor force. Her economic policy reports have been covered in outlets including the NY Times and Wall Street Journal.
African American Men and the Labor Market during the Great Recession provides a multidimensional background on the disproportionate impact experienced by African American male workers during the greatest economic upheaval of the 21st century. The talk will feature discussion with Duke University Economist Dr. William “Sandy” Darity on public policy’s role in mitigating (or exacerbating) this effect. |
