Abstract
In this work, we study the malaria infection risk when travelers are visiting or entering a
malaria endemic region. A simple mathematical model of Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible
(SIS) containing six non-linear differential equations is formulated to describe the
transmission of malaria in an endemic region. We analyzed the system by using a standard
dynamical method for a system of differential equations. The conditions for the equilibrium are
obtained by considering the possibility of zeros of a third degree polynomial. The numerical
result demonstrates the number of travelers as well as the behavior to the equilibrium of those
who become infected with malaria after entering an endemic region.
