Description:

Devin Carthan has worked in many industries throughout his life; currently he is a sought after educator, consultant and strategic marketing specialist for some of the biggest venues and restaurants in New York City. His charismatic personality and compelling voice speaks directly to the people he serves. In the early years of his career he had many interest ranging from Civic Reform, Event Planning, Criminal Justice and Culture. Initially Devin’s creativity and passion for the arts was at the forefront for his pursuits. During his undergraduate studies at John Jay College in New York City; he curated his brand Reckless Entertainment Inc. a live events company that books artist for a range of festivities with a focus on events for Colleges and Universities. During that period his concepts and ideas were highly sought after; he worked for media goliaths M.T.V, Viacom, Paramount and ABC. Additionally, he also worked for and helped launch major brands like the spirits company Sovereign Brands whom portfolio included Armand de Brignac Champagne (Ace of Spades) and D’ussé. He found a calling for working in education and with the youth at the prestigious K-8 School at Columbia University where he directed the middle division 6-8th in school and afterschool activities.

Rewind to the undergraduate years Devin traveled the country performing poetry, went to classes, re-created “the Crime Lab” John Jay Radio and curated the “Reckless Brand”. At this point in his life he started to gain perspective on the differences people across the United States and some international countries have. He eventually came to the conclusion we have significant more similarities than differences.  With that understanding he wanted to pursue a career as well as develop his business to being the “Connector for the People Everywhere”. Cultural diversity is at the helm of all that he does; he lives by the mantra “relationships are the most important things to humanity”.

Currently, Devin has found his passion as an Administrator with the Department of Education at Belmont Preparatory High School where he serves as the Community Coordinator. At night he is managing and marketing for the Marcus Samuelsson Group at the flagship restaurant “The Red Rooster” (Harlem, NY). The word most often used to describe him is passionate. His authenticity is a welcomed addition to any conversation based on improving lives, sharing culture and empowering the community. His skills are hard-fought and have been bestowed from his rough childhood all the way up through his graduation from an Ivy League school.  There's a richness in his concepts that foster an intriguing point of view on the modern creator, culturist and American entrepreneur.
