Career Chats are 15 minute virtual sessions where you can hear from
employers about their career journey and ask questions along the way!
Joel
Ortez is a special agent with the U.S. Department of State, Diplomatic
Security Service since 2009. His assignments include Manila 2017 –
2020, Beirut 2015 – 2017, Ciudad Juarez 2012 – 2014, and the New York
Field Office 2010 – 2012. He currently serves as a liaison and
operations coordinator at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA.
Prior to
and during his time in Diplomatic Security, Joel served in the United
States Marine Corps Reserves 2000 – 2014. He completed two tours in
Iraq 2003 and 2004-05.
Joel hails from Rutherford, NJ. He
graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2004 with a B.S.
Criminal Justice and 2008 with a B.A. Forensic Psychology. He has an
M.S. Law Enforcement Intelligence and Analysis from Michigan State
University.
