HONOREE AND KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR THE MALCOLM/KING BREAKFAST
The Malcolm/King Breakfast committee will be paying tribute to The Honorable Una S.T. Clarke at the 26th annual Malcolm/King Breakfast ceremony on February 26th, 2016. Dr. Clarke served as a member of the New York City Council representing the 40th district for ten years, supporting countless important legal initiatives in education, child welfare, economic development, health, and other areas. In 2001, Dr. Clarke was appointed by then-Governor George Pataki as Director of the Empire State Development Corporation for Brooklyn. She is currently a trustee of the City University of New York.
A recipient of numerous awards, Dr. Clarke became the first Caribbean-born woman to receive the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2001.
United States Representative, The Honorable Yvette Clarke, will be delivering the keynote at this event. She represents the 9th Congressional District of New York and has served on several Committees thus far including Homeland Security, Energy and Commerce, and Small Business. Before entering Congress in 2007, Clarke was a member of the New York City Council, succeeding her mother, Dr. Una Clarke.
