Professor Greg Donaldson

Professor Donaldson conducts workshops for NYPD Commanders and other leadership positions. Greg Donaldson is a writer, actor and teacher. He has written for several newspapers including The New York Times and Newsday. His articles on gangs, crime, police and popular culture have appeared in many major magazines including Rolling Stone, Esquire, Playboy, Men’s Health, Sports Illustrated and New York Magazine. He has been a Contributing Editor at both Vibe and Men’s Journal Magazines. His first book The Ville: Cops and Kids in Urban America (Houghton –Mifflin, 1993) will be republished by Fordham University Press in spring, 2015. It follows the lives of one teenager and one rookie cop throughout one year in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the country. His latest book, Zebratown (Simon and Schuster, 2010), chronicles the attempt of a violent felon to reinvent himself after his release from prison. Donaldson has taught at every level from elementary school in Brooklyn to high school equivalency at the Brooklyn House of Detention and police training for the U.S. State Department in Budapest, Hungary.
