Amy Mundorff, PhD - University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN
Current Research at the Body Farm in Knoxville, Tennessee
Dr. Mundorff is a biological anthropologist who specializes in forensic anthropology and disaster victim identification management (DVI/DVM). One of her major contributions to the field is her work on identifying the victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attack on 9/11/2001. After leaving the NY Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Mundorff completed her PhD and dedicated herself to research and teaching. She is now an associate professor at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, where her body farm research includes testing new methods to identify clandestine graves, examining the effects of soil microbes on buried human remains, plants indicators of human decomposition, and fine tuning post mortem interval estimations.
