Event Description:

The Post-Roe era:
What's next for the right to privacy? Issue and Challenges

Thursday December 8
6:00-8:00 p.m
ONLINE EVENT

This panel discussion, featuring Katy Mayall (Center for Reproductive Right), Jason Pierceson (University of Illinois Springfield) and Elena Sarver (Global Justice Center) will critically examine some of the key issues and challenges emerging from the recent Supreme Court decision overturning Roe, and in particular its impact on sexual/reproductive rights and related rights both in the US and abroad. The Post-Roe era is fraught with challenges for the protection and promotion of women’s rights and human rights. It also sends a warning signal for possible future decisions that could result in violations of other human rights such as the right to contraceptive access, and the rights of the LGBTQI+ community in choosing who to marry and build a family.
